• Third Eye

Third Eye was a micro-production, a scale I typically pass on. It was the sheer enthusiasm, sincerity and level of respect coming from its writer/director, Aditya Bhatt, that persuaded me to participate. Aditya describes himself as "a multi-disciplinary programmer who focuses on the intersection between Art and Technology." He specializes in Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Filmmaking and advanced Origami. I played Timothy Deakins, a genius credited with designing a highly-advanced AI app. The story touches on the ramifications of Artificial Intelligence in our daily lives. Deakins' interview becomes a kind of nut-cracker into his conscience. Jessica Greenwald played Alice, a journalist with very pointed opinions of Deakins' AI app. She delivered a sharp and crisp performance. Matt Silver played Alex, a visually-impaired consumer of Deakins' app, which relays nearly every conceivable bit of information a human can discern, i.e., obstacles, distances, a person's visage etc, while walking through the city streets.

During this period, I was working on three different films. One was to be shot two months later where my character has AIDS and I had already whittled my weight down. An interesting bit of trivia concerning Third Eye was the computer I was fiddling with. This behemoth was apparently one of very few on the planet with its level of capability. If there's such a thing as a secured set, this was it. High-level credentials were required to enter the premises. I was allowed to use its keyboard and proceeded to type sentences that were caught by the camera. Principally, my job was as an interviewee with much of my dialogue being expository. There's a natural quality in delivering exposition that I am fond of -- probably in the minority there.

Third Eye was shot entirely in New York City by its writer/director, Aditya Bhatt, on a Sony FS7.

    Running Time: 10 minutes.
